So generally, I am totally on the same page as most, getting a wee bit grossed out when Holiday items pop up in stores in October. After all it's not even Halloween yet! However it is that time to start thinking about Holiday Cards (scary I know!)! In the next couple of weeks we are going to be debuting many of our holiday items. Yay! Additionally, we will be sending out a newsletter with not only those offerings, but with lots of ideas and options for custom holiday cards. While living in Austin, I used to love taking cuttings, placing them in various vases of water (or soil depending on the plant) around the apartment, nurturing them and then eventually, if all goes as planned, planting them. For awhile, it was so out of hand our apartment looked like a veritable plant store. For some reason, after I moved back to the East coast I lost some interest. Maybe it was because I had to leave a number of my plants behind or maybe because with wedding planning in full swing at that point, that they were simply too low on my priority list to give it much thought. Regardless, while I still dutifully took care of my beloved Jade plants, the others didn't make it.
Recently, and somewhat out of the blue, I have been really exciting about planting again! This is my first jug of cuttings that I acquired yesterday. If all goes as planned they will be sprouting roots in the coming weeks and I can plant them in some fun planters I have left over from my "green thumb" days. One of my favorite things abut our apartment is that an entire wall of our living room is made of windows and I this vision of lining lots of puts of fun plants and flowers on the ledge. Hopefully it all turns out! And if it does I will be sure to share a picture :) Now I just have to decide what other kind of plants I want to acquire or grow! Sounds like a good Saturday project to me. xx
I have always loved how food is plated. Beautiful looking food gets me every time. I remember in college, I was that person that tried to make their salad look just right and then took a picture of it, showing my friends whether they were interested or not (usually not). A wee bit embarrassing but true. I still struggle not to Instagram and share every pretty plate I encounter.
Food stylist, Anna Keville Joyce takes creating beautiful food compositions to a whole new level. In collaboration with photographer Agustín Nieto, Anna created these amazing plates using vegetables, fruits, grains and salts. Her compositions are so creative and I love how her creations extend beyond the plate into the are that would traditionally be the table setting, illustrating the ingredients used in her designs. More impressive is that these materials are perishable, so she is working under a definite time crunch. Do you have a favorite? I am not sure I can choose. But I think this gives us all permission to play with your food! Happy Friday!

To be honest, today has been a rough day. For me, it always helps to find something beautiful and/or amazing to be inspired by to distract me from my crummy day. Below are images of Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, Japan. Every year 4.5 million baby blue eyes or Nemophila bloom in an event that is called "Nemophila Harmony". To me these images are so beautiful they almost seem surreal. I wish I was there but for now the pictures will have to suffice. I hope this brightens up your Tuesday like it did for me!
